Beatrice Update

Since Oct. 2014, Sister Doctor Beatrice has been hard at work in Dar Es Salaam, and she will finish her internship at Muhimbuli Hospital on November 7, '15. After a few days in Imiliwhaha, she and S Afra will visit the U.S. for a few weeks.

Good News

Beatrice GradIn June 2014, Sister Beatrice Kayombo, OSB graduated from Poznan University of Medical Science in Poznan, Poland as Doctor Sister Beatrice Kayombo.

Friends of Imiliwaha board members S Helen Jilek, Alice Sima and Diane Nilan (at their own expense) traveled to Poland to witness this monumental accomplishment.

Here is a short video of that occasion.

Bad News

On August 12, 2014 Sister Beatrice, her brother Father Nestor and another priest were in a serious car accident. Evidently their tire exploded sending them off the road. Beatrice is the only one hospitalized with unknown injuries to her pelvic region. She was transfered to a more sophisticated hospital for assessment and treatment.

In September, Dr. Karen Maloney intervened to get Beatrice to the US for assessment and treatment. Friends of Imiliwaha
IMG 5877helped with logistics of transportation for treatment and more.

Fortunately, that 3 weeks of therapy healed Beatrice enough so she could return to Dar Es Salaam and join her internship.

Friends of Imiliwaha provided financial support for her medical care.

And, as always, both S Beatrice and S Afra appreciate your prayerful support.
